Wild yam, commonly also known as colic root and fourleaf yam, is a member of the Dioscoreaceae (Yam Family). Its twining vine prefers a moist habitat and grows in the wild from Texas northward to Nebraska, Minnesota and states eastward to the Atlantic Coast. Whether grown by organic farmers or wildcrafted, primarily from the Southeast US, the root produces an extract that supports intestinal health*.
