The fibrous dried root of the licorice (or liquorice) plant has a rich history of culinary use around the world. Know for its demulcent or moistening activity, its use dates back centuries in Ayurvedic as well as Traditional Chinese Medicine. in TCM it is called Gan Cao and used to harmonize other ingredients in formulas as well as to Tonify the Qi of the heart and spleen. David Winston includes it in several formulas including Immune Adapt™. We use Certified Organic dried root sourced from southwestern Europe or India. Our licorice root extract has an intense sweet flavor.
