Shepherd's purse is a small weedy plant native to Europe. Its name comes from the seed pods, which resemble leather pouches that medieval shepherds carried. Herbalists classify this plant as a styptic and astringent; it is often used in herbal uterine remedies*. David Winston includes the herb in his Reckless Blood Tonic™.
