Asclepias tuberosa or butterfly weed is a species of milkweed in the Apocynaceae family. Native to many areas of North America with its beautiful orange flowers, it favors open areas such as prairies and fields and was used both internally and topically by the native people where it was found. We use the fresh or dried root to make our extract. Its cooling, drying energy are the reasons David Winston selects it to blend into his Lung Relief Hot/Damp formula.
