Horsetails are ancient plants that once towered over understory plants in the Paleozoic age forests. The only surviving members of the Equisetaceae family, they now are much smaller than their ancestors. Rich in silicic acid (organic silica), which is a cofactor for calcium absorption, Equisetum helps promote healthy bones, hair, teeth, skin, and nails*.
