Gymnema, or Gurmer, is native to central and southern India as well as Sri Lanka and tropical Africa. It is a member of the Asclepiadaceae (milkweed) family. The Ayurvedic name Gurmer means “sugar destroyer”, referring to its ability to support healthy pancreatic function.
