The name Burdock comes from its protective seed covering or burr. This biannual plant with large leaves is very recognizable in its second year; the burrs were supposedly the inspiration for Velcro. Within the burr are the small seeds. They are oily, antibacterial, and traditionally used for skin chronic conditions.
