Artichoke, a plant in the Asteraceae or daisy family, is a cultivated variety of the cardoon, a thistle. Most people are familiar with the globe Artichoke as a food, but the plants' leaves are also traditionally used as a bitter digestive tonic. Our extract is made from US sourced certified organic artichoke leaves in 2 separate extractions. We process fresh leaves harvested in the early summer in low alcohol bitter, and then we process the batch of dried leaves in a higher alcohol menstrum. Each extraction draws different constituents from the leaves. They are then combined creating a full-spectrum extract that reflects the best of tradition and science.
